Dr. Sumit Chowdhary

Dr. Sumit D. Chowdhury is the Vice President & Partner of IBM Global Business Services. Prior to IBM, Sumit was the CIO of Reliance Communications and CEO of Reliance Tech Services. Before Reliance, he was the Managing Director, and Country Head of BearingPoint (KPMG Consulting) in Australia and in the US. Sumit is a member of Mumbai Angels and mentors and incubates several startup companies.

Sumit is a B.Tech from IIT Kanpur, an MS in Electronics /Communications Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology and Ph.D in Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Graduate Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors. Sumit was on the Board of Directors of TeleManagement Forum and also the founder of Digital Bridge Foundation – an non-profit organization helping bridge the Digital Divide in India thru promotion of One-laptop-per-child and constructivist education. He was a member of the Telecommunications, Electronics and Security Committees of the Indian Merchants Chamber and Computer Society of India.

In his free time, Sumit is a professional abstract artist with his works being exhibited internationally. He has traveled extensively and is trained in Indian Music and has performed with amateur bands in India, US and Australia. He is also an active marathon runner.
