Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Govt. of India jointly with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will hold the INDIA TELECOM 2009 at Pragati Maidan, for three days from 3rd - 5th December 2009, New Delhi, India. This is the Fourth Edition in this series since the first was held in December 2006.
India Telecom 2009, fourth consecutive year of the leading international conference and exhibition is a forum for promoting Telecom for Inclusive Growth through Enterprise and Learning.
3rd edition of India Telecom, ie. INDIA TELECOM 2008, with theme “Connecting Rural India” was held at New Delhi from 11th – 13th December and was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh in the august presence of Hon’ble Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology. 3G mobile services were also launched in India by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during the Inaugural Ceremony of India telecom 2008. The exhibition had huge participation from over 250 companies, had representation from 28 countries, attracted17,114 attendees from all over the world.
The two-day conference of India Telecom 2008 had participation from over 52 International and National Speakers and was well attended by 500 Delegates (International & National). The program, discussed new growth drivers that are revolutionizing the telecom sector in India and around the world and focused on opportunities and challenges in providing seamless connectivity to rural India. The conference with the focus on ‘Connecting Rural India’ had various theme based sessions on Economic & Social Development in Rural India, Broadband for All, Strategy & New Business Approaches, Value Added Services & Content Management and Regulatory & Policy Environment.
The telecom market in India has undergone a seismic change in the last few years. With rapidly increasing tele-density, India is set to join the league of nations that have been transformed by the availability of affordable, and yet quality, telecommunications networks. India’s telecom sector puts emphasis on deeper penetration into tier 2 and rural areas, and effectively exploiting the new opportunities opened through new services such as 3G mobile, VAS, WiMAX, M-Commerce, Mobile Banking and Broadband Wireless services.
